 My friends,

I was just ‘busting with pride’ as after the rally this evening.  A small but mighty crew of faculty staffed the front entrance with flags and signs and stood up for the belief that our students deserve more than what they’re getting in education, and that the community at large a deserving of more quality graduates from the college system.  We were joined by OPSEU regional office, the Elementary Teachers association, and Bob Eaton and held the line at the Parkedale Entrance for well over an hour.  My sincere thanks to Dale, Peggy and Diane who deliberately returned to support their colleagues, and to Hal, Nancy and Jeff who staffed the line after the rest of us left.  We had many happy ‘honks’ from cars passing by (and a much smaller than usual display of unhappy honks), the geese staffed a secondary line, and Star the dog was overjoyed with all of our antics.

Again, you are an amazing group of people.

 Announcements:

1)      The pay is in!  Please see Jim Miller for your cheques.

2)      A number of people have asked for updates from Centennial College in regards to John Stammer, the faculty member who was struck on the line.  At this point we have no more news, but there is a contact e-mail on the CAATtales website for any of you who want to convey your thoughts to the family.

3)      There are extra raincoats in the trailer.  Please feel free to use them at any time – even if you just need to have an extra windbreak.

4)      Please help me out by keeping record (in the trailer) of all the donations to the line.  We have a couple of people working on thank you notes for the donations thus far, and I really want the donors to be aware of our gratitude.

In solidarity,

Lynne
